Adobe recently announced a raft of upgrades to Adobe Stock, the royalty-free stock images, photos, graphics, vectors and video footage service that integrates with many of the Creative Cloud apps, including Photoshop an Lightroom.

Photoshop Integration

You can find Adobe Stock search in the Libraries panel inside of Photoshop and can licence images without leaving the application.

In this example you can see I’ve searched for ‘Boxing’ and I have a range of images. Each search will be slightly different, Stock doesn’t just display the top selling images but some new ones and some that haven’t been popular for a while, great for contributors!

You can see in this search that I have the usual types of images, Illustration, vector graphic and video. Adobe have now included a new option, Editorial.

Editorial Images

Still searching ‘Boxing’ but filtering to just editorial images brings up some, as you probably expected, editorial images.

Where are these images from, well for that let’s turn to the Adobe Press Release;

Reuters for Adobe Stock Editorial Collection – Announced in November 2016, the editorial collection of 12 million editorial images from the world’s largest multimedia news provider is now here featuring global news, sports and entertainment content. It will also include 26,000 hours of video and 1 million clips.

USA Today Sports for Adobe Stock Editorial collection – Coming soon, the collection will cover more than 10,000 sporting events annually producing 500,000 images per year, including major league sports coverage from the NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL.

Premium Images

You may also have seen Premium Images;

Again a different set of images, this time from Stocksy;

Stocksy for Adobe Stock Premium Collection – The Stocksy collection will grow the Adobe Stock Premium collection in size with a highly curated and unique collection of royalty-free stock photography that is distinctive, authentic and impactful for designers and visual storytellers. Adobe is the first and only distribution partner for the exclusive Stocksy collection.

On the Website

Searching Images

These features also appear on the Adobe Stock website with a even more filters to narrow down your search;

But There’s More – BETA Features

On the site there’s also a couple of new filters, Depth of Field and Vivid color. Here you can narrow the search to images with more of less Depth of Field an the vividness of the color.

Searching With Color

There’s a nifty colour picker too, here I’ve searched again for ‘Boxing’ but changed the colour I’m searching for to green. No surprise I’m getting a mix of Christmas gifts mixed in there.

Searching By Image

Have an image you want something like? Just drag and drop the image into the search and let Adobe Stock do the rest. I suspect some witchcraft!

PowerPoint

There’s now a Stock plugin for Powerpoint, you can search via text or by visual search!
