New Things and Reminiscing. What’s What? Live! with Special Guest Dave Cross

David and I recently had the pleasure of hosting another What’s What? Live! this week, number 5 in the series and the start of an unplanned ‘David Season’. This week we were joined by a huge influence in my Photoshop and Adobe career, Dave Cross.

The Fascinating World of AI and Its Limitations

We kicked off the live stream with a topic that has been both awe-inspiring and, at times, puzzling: artificial intelligence (AI). We shared our mixed feelings about AI-generated content, discussing how it can create impressive works out of thin air, yet still fall short in certain aspects. Dave had a hilarious story about AI-generated barbershop quartet images that looked like something out of a horror movie. Faces and hands, AI is yet to get them right!

A Closer Look at Adobe Bridge and Lightroom

Our conversation then shifted gears as we dove into the realm of Adobe Bridge and Lightroom. Dave has always been a huge advocate of Bridge, and I couldn’t help but share my passion for it. The seamless integration of Bridge with other Adobe products, such as Illustrator and InDesign, makes it a creative workflow hub.

Of course, we acknowledged the merits of Lightroom, especially for wedding and event photographers who deal with a vast collection of images. But Bridge has always been the perfect companion for my photography and compositing work. Dave explained how his personalised filing system and Bridge’s user-friendly interface make his creative journey a joy.

Embracing Technology and Building a Creative Community

As we concluded the live stream, we couldn’t help but marvel at the power of technology and its impact on the creative landscape. The conversation exemplified the importance of building a vibrant creative community where we can share ideas, learn from one another, and celebrate the wonders of innovation.

I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each and everyone who joined us for the live stream. If you missed the live stream or want to relive the excitement, the recording is just a click away. Join Dave, David and me as we journey through the realms of AI, Photoshop, and photography, and let’s continue to embrace the power of innovation on our creative paths.
