Let me just put this out there straight away, I am a big fan of Photoshop - I have been ever since a friend of mine gave me his old copy. It is a wonderful program that allows you to stretch yourself not only artistically but also mentally. Most people will fall in love with the filters first of all – but will eventually be seduced by adjustment layers and brushes. If you’re new to this crazy world – then just sit back, relax and have fun.
Tips
1. Increase scratch memory – Edit > Preferences > Performance > tick all available drives
2. Get rid of unwanted brushes – open the brush picker, hold your mouse over the unwanted brush and while holding the Alt key left click it.
3. If you get a memory error while trying to Save For Web, then try changing the file type to gif, reduce the dimensions / size. Finally change back to a jpg
4. to paint, clone, heal etc in a straight line – just hold down the shift key while painting
5. Always work on a copy not the original – maintain the original pixels. you never know when you may want to scrap it and start all over again
