Easy Fancy Text Top Tip

Hello!. Those that have been here for a while, or have looked back, will know that I’m extraordinarily lazy. I like to get Photoshop to do stuff that helps me look good but actually took me no time at all. I like to call these little techniques my Top Tips. Here’s one for making text a bit more fancy.

So here I’ve got some text that wants to go on a wedding photo, greetings card or present.

Here’s the settings for this little bit of text. What’s important to note here is that this is ‘pro’ font. This technique wont work with all fonts. Choose wisely.

OK, here’s the top tip. With the text layer active, click the fly out button on the character pallete and choose Stylistic Alternates.

Now then, that’s looking nice, but we haven’t finished.

Undo that (Ctrl/Cmd+z) then highlight the W and go to the fly out menu again. This time choose Swash

Fancy eh?

You can select any letters to have Swah and/or Stylistic Alternates. (In the final signature I’ve also added a layer mask, added clouds to it then tweaked it with a levels adjustment.)
