While still taking on some freelance work, Eric has recently become a Lecturer at Peterborough’s Media and Journalism Centre where he enjoys sharing his knowledge as well as learning new skills. This realisation that he loves to teach has made Eric look at altering his career path.

A Photoshop CC Web Round Up

There’s been a lot of talk on the net about Adobe’s plans for Photoshop CC in June, but what does it actually mean? Lets take a wander around the net and see what’s being said by those in the know;

Using Free Stock Images for Comp Images in Photoshop

image_thumb.png

Not to be confused with Layer Comps, Comp images are handy for a few reasons. If you use a stock image site like Fotolia you don’t necessarily want to pay for, and download full res images only for you not to use them. You may also want to put together a rough composite prior to shooting your own images, for inspiration or composition ideas.
Using a great plug in you can access thousands of images from within Photoshop at no cost, let me show you how;

Selecting Hair in Photoshop Touch

Selecting hair is one of the more challenging Photoshop skills if you want to start doing compositing. Photoshop Touch makes it very easy to do, on the go, using a couple of tools and a filter.

In this video I take the photo of Paige and extract her, fly away hair included, and put her on a grungy background.

Photoshop Text on a Circular Path

Coffee.jpg

Using our Contact Us page The Photoshop Nuts were asked if we could explain how to put text on a circle. This was covered a while back by Michael Hoffman in his post Working With Type On a Path as a written tutorial but I thought I’d create a video for those that prefer to learn that way too.

In the video, I also explain a technique for creating concentric circles and explain why you’d want to have two windows displaying one image.

Step Into Your Image with Photoshop and After Effects

In this video I take a flat, 2D image and transform it into a 3D image that a camera can pass into. If you’ve not worked with Vanishing Point before then you may wish to take a quick look at Multiple Planes with Photoshop (No 3D Layers). There’s two techniques here, one uses only Photoshop while the second uses Photoshop and After Effects.
