I was going really well with this, created my stroked shape with the pen tool, and the first time I tried New 3D Extrusion from Selected Layer it all worked as you said. I didn’t like my curve so I went back and tried again. Every time I now get “Could not complete the new 3D extrusion because the path is too complex. I’ve restarted the computer – everything I can think, but I’m stuck. I’m on CS6 windows 64 bit. Any ideas?

  2. This can happen if your path is a raster object rather than an actual path. PS is complaining most likely be3cause of the “jaggies” of a rasterized shape. Make sure you’re creating a shape layer and not pixels, or create your path and try “3d Extrusion from selected path” instead.
